Week 8
Photo of the week
This is the only photo where everyone is in it! It was so funny that I nearly laughed my belly off.
New person (outside of DASL) that you met
I went to the shushi restaurant with Zahir, Nathan, Tommy and Yehyun and met Nick. He was a member of DASL. He was so funny that I couldn't help laughing. He was so great at taking orders that delicious food never stopped coming to the table. The business ideas and research stories he shared revealed how much he loves and is passionate about his field. He drove me to the airport to go to Chicago, and five of us squeezed into the car, playing upbeat songs as we drove. It was such a happy memory that I don't think I'll ever forget it.
What institutional of American/Vegas cultural insight did you learn this week?
The parking fee here was prepaid! Since most parking in Korea is postpaid, I naturally parked, had a meal, and came back, only to realize that I had to pay a fine. It was an American culture I learned the hard way, after paying a steep price.
What did you learn about yourself?
I thought that taking a day trip to a nearby place once a week was enough to refresh myself. However, I found out that going on a longer trip to a new place has made is completely different. It feels amazing! I feel like I can put more energy into anything and do it really well.
What is the status of your technical projects and what skills did you learn?
I learned about the different types of end mills for CNC routers. There is the face end mill for effectively facing wide surfaces, the T-slot end mill for creating T-shaped holes, and the Ball flute for cutting 3D curved surfaces.
