Week 6
1. Photo of the week: What impressed you to take it, select and write about this photo?
The first photo is from a class where Nathan was teaching me Unity, and the second photo is of a car I saw at the Classic Car Show held in Henderson. I’ve always been interested in cars, especially classic or modified ones, but I never had the chance to see them in person. However, thanks to my friend’s help after coming to the U.S., I was able to see such amazing cars, and it was a memorable weekend.
2. New person (outside of DASL) that you met? How did you or the person initiate the encounter, what made the encounter challenging or easy, and how did it help you?
There were no special encounters or notable events this week.
3. What institutional or American/Vegas cultural insight did you learn this week?
I realized that my American friends are much more easygoing and not overly embarrassed by how they appear to others. In other words, I could sense that they have very high self-esteem through the photo above.
4. What did you learn about yourself?
Through the process of conducting multibody dynamics simulations in Recurdyn, I realized that there are still many features I'm not yet proficient with while working on the Zahir project. During Week 6, I was able to attend several classes and learn a lot, and I even created a new model for the Zahir project. However, the more I use Recurdyn, the more I realize how much more there is to learn about the program.
5. What is the status of your technical projects and what skills did you learn?
The following are the tasks I completed during Week 6:
-Made the last omni wheel
-Took a C++ class with Zahir
-Took a Shapeoko class with Santi
-Took a Unity class with Nathan
-Designed linear moving boom ver.2 for Zahir
-Simulated linear moving boom ver.2 for Zahir
-Calculated the required torque of the motor
In particular, while working on Designing linear moving boom ver.2 for Zahir and Simulating linear moving boom ver.2 for Zahir, I found areas to improve in the pipe design. So, I plan to create version 3 and run the simulation again this week.
