As I wrapped up the tutorial documentation, I also began concluding the simulation portion of my project. Meanwhile, in the CNC section of the pledge course, I transitioned from using the Shapeoko—primarily for cutting wood—to using the Tormach, which is capable of machining metal. I experimented with milling a LEGO brick from aluminum. Although both machines use similar CAD/CAM workflows, I learned that designing for different materials and machine types requires careful consideration of factors like tool selection, spindle speed, and feed rate. This experience helped me better understand how material properties and machine capabilities influence the manufacturing process from design to final cut.
