Week 10
1. Photo of the week: What impressed you to take it, select and write about this photo?
I heard that Las Vegas is famous worldwide for its circus performances. Although I hadn’t had a chance to see one before, thanks to my older brother, I was able to watch the Michael Jackson ONE show this past weekend. It was my first time seeing a circus, and I was excited that my first experience happened to be in Las Vegas. I realized that, even though I've been in Las Vegas for almost four months, I’m not very familiar with the cultural scene here. This experience made me want to explore other activities more actively.
2. New person (outside of DASL) that you met? How did you or the person initiate the encounter, what made the encounter challenging or easy, and how did it help you?
I didn't have the opportunity to meet new people this week.
3. What institutional or American/Vegas cultural insight did you learn this week?
As I mentioned earlier, this was my first time learning about the circus in Las Vegas, and experiencing a show like this was a new cultural experience for me. This inspired me to look into other circuses and explore what other kinds of cultural activities are out there.
4. What did you learn about yourself?
I feel like I've been quite unaware of the cultural life in Las Vegas over the past three months. There have been so many great cultural experiences I could have enjoyed, and if I had known about them earlier, my time here would have been even more enjoyable. So, even though it's a bit late, I want to start exploring them now.
5. What is the status of your technical projects and what skills did you learn?
I am currently working on a CDPR prototype, specifically setting up a Raspberry Pi with Zahir. Using this setup, I plan to create three of my own CDPR pipes by next week.
