Week 2
New Person
This week I have mainly worked from home, and when I mean home, I mean the lab. So, I really didn't meet any new people this week as I only went to NNSS once that week are already familiar with the people I see.
Cultural Insight
So this is a recent discovery, but it was clear to Nathan and I that what we do in the lab sometimes is apply band-aids to things. Meaning, we focused on the short-term solutions, so whenever we did testing as of recent, there were problems that was solved in a half-ass manner. These issues could've been fixed if there was more effort in the design, but wasn't and we have to pay the price and fix it ourselves. I mention this because at NNSS, the only problems we had were ones they had zero control over (battery of devices, environment, etc,), and the ones we did have control over were mainly code issues. This realization made us think that we need to start designing things in a reliable manner, rather than a specific use-case.
Self Lesson
I think the biggest thing I learned about
Technical Projects
Finally, I can work on code and ROS2! For the past few weeks, the only thing I have been doing is CAD and learning about GIT, so I am starting to get burnt out about this. Thankfully, my supervisor said I can start dabbling into code with the two cameras we are currently using for our project. Luckily, I have already dabbled into ROS2, so the transition between ROS1 to ROS2 isn't the worst. I am starting to get the feeling that the intensity will starting racking up.
