-{{ :vega:img_0806.jpg?upright }} +This is a picture of the accident that happened this Friday. My dorm blew up. I chose this photo because I have never experienced anything like that before. Apparently it was a gas leak that caused the explosion, but luckily most of the people (including me) were evacuated because someone pulled the fire alarm. We were moved to another dorm, yet all my stuff is still in there, and I'm not sure if I am getting it back. I am currently just waiting on the status because I have food, clothes, and pretty much everything in there (including notes :/). It happened around 1pm on Friday and I was in the dorm eating lunch before going back to the lab when it happened.

 ==== What I Learned about Myself ==== ==== What I Learned about Myself ====

-I learned that I get stressed out with computer science in general, but that I should just be patient as the end results will comeWith so many errors in the code, spend most of the time debugging the code, yet by doing this I learn the proper structure and will avoid making the same mistake in the futureOverall it is making me stronger engineer as most ME's do not go through a programming class.  +I learned that it is possible to learn a majority of things on YouTube or online resources. I started Open CV on Monday and completed the program on TuesdayIt is a useful resource with vast amounts of documentation on certain projects. Yet, the thing that is the most useful is the Open CV community which can help with errorsThe same community exists for ROSas a copy paste of an error can lead to a solution.

-I have also learned that I try to figure out the problem myself and stay stuck for a couple of days instead of asking for help. Yet, it is good to ask for as there is a set timeline for the project, and the more progress, the betterIt is not like I am asking for them to do the project for meyet just guidance in the right direction. That is something I need to do whenever I spend too long for problem+

 +I also realized that computer science is a lot of googling. Someone has came up with the exact error that I've encountered which is nice. I've always thought that computer science was always coding from a blank document, yet a lot of it is editing existing code to ones project. This can be templates like ROS programs or even using open source packages for ones needs.

 ==== New Person That I Met ==== ==== New Person That I Met ====

-I met Dr. Louis this week and he gave me an introduction on his work. It involves Unity with Dr. La's bridge inspection robot. His grad student was out of townso I will get to see a demo this upcoming Friday and will include it in the next blog+I met Dr. Louis' grad student Nick this week and we have setup a meeting for a VR demo for Monday (7/21). He is in his first year of his Phd and is completing it in computer science. His work includes the virtual environment for robots, and he will give me more detail whenever he presents the demo
