Week 8

New Person

I didn't get a chance to meet with anybody new this week. Most people were out working remotely due to trainings.

Cultural Insight

One aspect of RSL that I recently learned is how free, and even encouraged, employees are to research/develop new ideas and projects. The project Francis and I are apart of is just a fraction of the total pool of projects that exist at RSL. All employees at RSL are free to work on a large majority of projects, but if an employee were to come up with an idea that they believe supports RSL's mission, they are free to work on it; whether by themselves, or with a group. Especially while working in industry, I didn't expect such freedom while working on projects!

Lesson of the Week

Since we are approaching the end of our internship, we are working on preparing our final presentations! A big aspect of the presentation is showcasing the overall progression in our skills and our work as a hole. The best way to do that is by taking a ton of photographs, videos, etc, of every little thing. For DASL, we of course do this, but sometimes, we forget to record and take photos of the simplest of things, when in reality, it's so important to showcase the overall progression. Thankfully, our manager took photos of many aspects of the presentation, while Francis and I would record our progress via OBS recordings.

Technical Projects

As I mentioned previously, the internship is coming to a close, hence the amount of work on our projects has slowed down. For the remainder of our time at RSL, we are working on our end of internship presentation, which covers everything; our previous experience, our progression in our own “story” at RSL, and our project work.
